axomera
Allergy & Hay fever

Less hay fever. Fewer medications. More everyday life.

As a reference centre for Axomera therapy, we offer a bioelectrical therapy approach in Düsseldorf that does not require cortisone, cetirizine, or other medications. In an observational study, patients reported fewer symptoms and a reduced need for medication.

Sceptic's response

Why does stimulation therapy help with hay fever?

In 2014, patients we were treating for headaches reported an unexpected improvement in their allergic symptoms. This led to its application for hay fever as well as allergies to animal hair and house dust mites.

Via fine, acupuncture-like probes, a microprocessor generates an electric field in the order of magnitude of the body's own cellular fields. The goal is to dampen the excessive inflammatory reaction of the mucous membranes — without cortisone and without antihistamines.

A doctor treats herself.

Post 1 / 5
For years, I have suffered from March to June from severe hay fever with a runny nose as well as itchy nose and eyes. Besides cetirizine, I usually needed a cortisone depot injection once a year. This year I had forgotten it and suddenly stood before my patients with a running nose and itchy eyes. In my distress, I treated myself with Axomera therapy — it got better immediately after, the symptoms largely disappeared, and I needed no more medications for the whole year.

Symptom severity (0–10), mean values from the observational study. Representation is schematic according to the collected progress data.

We were able to confirm this observation in a multicentre, prospective observational study of 129 patients who had been suffering from hay fever for an average of 20 years. These are the most important results:

  • Axomera therapy for hay fever is perceived as low-pain and has few side effects.
  • As a rule, 3–6 Axomera treatments within 2–3 weeks are required.
  • During this, allergy-typical symptoms of the nose, eyes, and lungs improved by more than 50 %.
  • The patients needed 60 % fewer tablets, 70 % less asthma spray and 80 % fewer nasal or eye drops.
  • Even a year after Axomera therapy, many patients had 50 % fewer symptoms and took 70 % less medication. .

Observational studies generate real-world data and signals of efficacy, not proof of efficacy.

Clinical picture

An excessive reaction of the immune system.

Hay fever (allergic rhinitis) is an excessive immune system reaction to otherwise harmless substances — pollen, animal hair or house dust mites.

Sneezing, runny nose, blocked nose and itchy, watery eyes are typical; some also experience coughing or asthmatic symptoms.

Allergy & Hay fever

What patients report.

Typical findings

From our patient consultations.

  • Often for many years, not infrequently 10–20 years
  • Seasonal (pollen) or perennial (animal hair, house dust)
  • Sneezing, runny nose, blocked nose
  • Itchy, watery eyes
  • Sometimes coughing or asthmatic symptoms
  • Impairment of sleep, daily life and work
Previous therapy

Usually in this order.

  1. Allergen avoidance
  2. Antihistamines (tablets, eye drops)
  3. Cortisone nasal spray
  4. Cortisone depot injection (acute)
  5. Specific immunotherapy / hyposensitisation (SIT)
Our approach

How we proceed with you.

Before any treatment, we clarify whether this new therapeutic approach is appropriate for you.

Diagnosis & Suitability
  1. Taking an allergy history and reviewing existing allergy test results
  2. Assessing whether a treatment attempt makes sense and considering the influence of medication
Axomera treatment
  1. Fine needles on the nose, forehead and temples, followed by bioelectrical stimulation of the tissue
  2. Generally 3–6 treatments within 2–3 weeks, while lying down, each lasting about 30 minutes
  3. Aim: fewer symptoms and reduced need for medication — in successful cases, freedom from symptoms even without medication

Aims & course of treatment. We cannot guarantee a specific result — the progression is individual. Depending on the course of the condition, fewer or more treatments may be required.

Anti-inflammatory approach using a bioelectrical method — a level deeper than antihistamines and cortisone, targeting the excessive inflammatory reaction of the mucous membranes; not cortisone-like, without antihistamines.

As with other indications, around 20–30 % of patients treated do not respond.

Axomera is an internationally patented bioelectrical procedure.
