Tennis & Golfer's Elbow

Track down the tendon attachment that keeps causing stabbing pain.

A tennis or golfer's elbow is persistent — agonizing even during a handshake. As a reference centre for Axomera therapy, we examine the overloaded tendon attachment at the elbow and treat it bioelectrically, if necessary in combination with acupuncture.

Magnified view: Treatment of the irritated tendon attachment at the elbow

A year and a half ago, I got pain in my right elbow while playing tennis. I received a total of nine cortisone injections, which only helped temporarily; eventually, an operation was considered. After the Axomera therapy, I had minor complaints for another two weeks, then they were gone, and I am playing tennis again.

Clinical picture

Irritation of the tendon attachments at the elbow.

Tennis and golfer's elbow (epicondylitis) are irritation states of the tendon attachments at the outer (tennis elbow) or inner (golfer's elbow) elbow bone, usually due to recurring strain.

Typical is a stabbing pain during strain of the hand and forearm, even during a handshake; the complaints tend to become chronic.

Patients

What patients report.

Typical findings

From our patient consultations and the medical reports submitted.

  • Complaints usually since several months to over a year
  • Often consulted multiple doctors — no lasting improvement
  • Stabbing pain when gripping, lifting, and during a handshake
  • Pain upon pressure on the bony protrusion of the elbow
  • Trigger: recurring strain (work, sports)
Previous therapy

Almost always in this order.

  1. Anti-inflammatory medication and ointments
  2. Immobilisation (bandage / plaster splint)
  3. Physiotherapy (eccentric training)
  4. Cortisone injections (often multiple)
  5. Shock wave
  6. possibly PRP
  7. Surgery (not recommended, therefore rare)
Where we make the difference

Cortisone injections at the elbow often only work short-term, and repeated injections can additionally weaken the tendon attachment.

Axomera for tennis and golfer's elbow (epicondylitis).

At the tendon attachment of the forearm — outside for tennis elbow, inside for golfer's elbow — repeated strain leads to tendinopathy: tendon remodeling can no longer keep up with the strain. The attachment point is located directly at the bony protrusion of the elbow just under the skin and is precisely reachable from the outside.

Axomera targets this tendon attachment: computer-controlled electrical signals in the dimension of cellular electrical fields are placed with millimeter precision at the attachment point. The goal is to shift the disturbed tendon remodeling back in favour of a load-bearing tendon structure.

One millimeter decides whether the field is on the irritated tissue or next to it. That is why we perform an ultrasound beforehand.

Our approach

How we proceed with you.

Every therapy needs its own examination — for us, this includes the Axomera diagnostics and the Axomera therapy.

Axomera diagnostics
  1. Secure the diagnosis and check the influence of taken medication
  2. Millimeter-precise examination — locate pain points at the tendon attachment of the elbow
Axomera therapy
  1. 4–6 Axomera treatments, targeted at these points
  2. Goal: significant reduction of pain and tendon remodeling disturbance
  3. In favorable courses: pain-free gripping, lifting, and holding, permanent healing

Aims & course of treatment. We cannot guarantee a specific result — the progression is individual. Depending on the course of the condition, fewer or more treatments may be required.

Axomera treats the overloaded tendon attachment at the elbow bioelectrically — one level deeper than ointments, injections, and splints, at the body's own control of tendon remodeling — and can be combined with acupuncture here.

Patients report

Individual cases.

For over three years massive pain in both elbows; more than ten cortisone injections, physiotherapy, and acupuncture with another colleague remained unsuccessful. In our practice, 15 acupuncture treatments were performed on the left and right; over the weeks, I returned to sports.
